Parking Lot Picnic Film Challenge

$50.00

Everyone has hit the drive thru and then pulled into a parking spot to have a classic parking lot picnic. A lot can happen outside your car window while you’re watching the world go by and eating your fries in the peaceful sanctuary of your vehicle. Or maybe your parking lot picnics are not so peaceful - you’re stopped to have an intense conversation with a friend, or an argument over the phone. There’s no shortage of mini stories unfolding in the parking lot beside a drive thru at any given time.

That’s what this category is all about!

Gather a team and put your filmmaking hats on for this unique film challenge! There are only 6 spots available to participate in the following:

  • Sign up your team for the challenge

  • Receive a series of story prompts to work from and incorporate in your “film sequence”

  • Write/shoot/edit/finish your “film sequence” during the month of August

  • Watch your work on the big screen during the festival - incorporated into a film that includes the other films in the challenge to create one large anthology film titled “Parking Lot Picnics”!

Each team will be responsible for creating a 10(ish) minute film sequence that tells the story of a parking lot picnic. The film sequence should incorporate the prompts provided by the festival. The film sequence should BEGIN with a swish pan left to right into a window of a vehicle, and END with a swish pan left to right away from a window of a vehicle - this will create a seamless transition when all the sequences are edited together to create the full film!

The finished “Parking Lot Picnics” film is guaranteed to screen during the festival run - which means your hard work will be up on the big screen!

Some nitty gritty details: This is a co-creation film project, meaning that many different filmmakers will submit work to create a “quilted” final product. The film will exclusively screen at the MOS Film Fest. IP of the final film will belong to the MOS Film Fest, and they reserve the right to screen the full stitched-together film at future festivals, or use clips for promo, etc. Each individual film sequence will remain property of the individual filmmaking team.
